Kenneth P. Brier established Brier
& Geurden with a simple goal in mind -- to make available to clients
tax and estate-planning services of the highest quality in a boutique
suburban practice setting. His concept is to provide to clients the best of
both worlds -- the same quality and sophistication commonly associated with
the large Boston law firms but with the
convenience of an easily accessible suburban location and a fee structure
commensurate with such a location. His idea is to effectively service
clients at virtually all levels -- those with substantial assets and
complicated situations and those of relatively more modest circumstances
who might not otherwise look for a top-rated lawyer -- providing the best
possible value to all of them.
Ken has brought to his
new practice some 25 years of experience in several major law firms in Boston. Immediately prior to the
establishment of Brier & Geurden he was a member of the estate planning
department of Bingham McCutchen LLP, an international law firm. He was
previously a partner of another international law firm, Holland &
Knight LLP.
While Ken is known both
for creativity and care applied in his legal work, he is also aware that
tax matters and estate-planning and administration touch upon some of the
most sensitive of individual and family concerns. He appreciates these
concerns and handles them with sensitivity. Where appropriate and where
desired, he can involve more than one generation in the planning process,
helping to educate the younger generation on family and business concerns
and to develop an integrated family approach. Whether or not multiple
generations are involved, Ken's aim is to listen and to respond with care
and understanding.
Brier & Geurden is dedicated
to the team concept -- working with your other advisors (including any
accountant, life insurance advisor, financial consultant, or investment or
trust officer), in whatever way makes the most sense in your circumstances.
At the same time, as a practice focused in targeted area of law, we are
pleased to work with qualified lawyers in other areas as your needs arise.
We can work with your existing lawyer in matters in our areas of
concentration, or as needed we can refer you to another lawyer skilled in
matters outside of our usual practice areas and to coordinate as a team
with that lawyer. We are also happy to make referrals to non-legal
advisors, where your situation might warrant their services. In addition we
often serve as a consultant to other advisors in situations where our
expertise in taxation and related matters may be needed or desired.
Brier & Geurden's
practice areas include the following:

also available to serve as a guardian ad litem in trust and estate matters
